The Scout Brigade of Fort George (sponsored by the Greater Toronto Council of Scouts Canada) operates an annual weekend Scout Camp on the grounds of historic Fort George in the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario Canada.
The opportunity to learn about this period of history is unsurpassed.The youth get to experience what life was like on the Niagara Frontier during the time when the border was being shaped. They step back in history and get to join the Scout Brigade as troops from Canada and the United States gather to learn about the past and celebrate over 200 years of peace and all within a Scouting environment of brotherhood.

COUNCIL COMMISSIONER CENTRAL ESCARPMENT COUNCIL
Appointed by and accountable to the National Commissioner of Scouts Canada, this position requires a time commitment of 40 – 50 hours per month. The appointment is for a one year term, renewable for a maximum of three years. Travel throughout the Council to attend meetings and events will be required.
The Council is managed by a “Key 3” which is a partnership between the Council Youth Commissioner, the Executive Director (an employee of Scouts Canada) and you. Together you will lead, plan and manage the affairs of the Council and be the principal contact for the Council regarding program management, volunteer support, membership growth and retention and ensuring a safe environment for youth to learn and develop. Your role includes ensuring the activities of the Council are consistent with Scouts Canada’s strategic plan, and providing the necessary service and support is in place so that Areas can supervise the delivery of the Scouting programs. As a member of the National Service Team you will represent the Council’s interests and ensure an effective flow of accurate and timely information regarding all Scouting matters, including procedure and policy changes.
Your upbeat, positive attitude will encourage a climate favourable for growth of Canada’s best youth movement. With a keen eye for great leaders you will participate with the Council Nominating Committee in the Public Appointment Process to selectively recruit, appoint and orient Area Commissioners and other volunteers for the Council Leadership Team. The job has a variety of tasks and is dynamic and changing. The ability to understand, quickly react and motivate others to adapt to the changing organizational environment is a critical key to success.
With the completion of the term of the current Council Commissioner in July 2015, the Council is seeking an individual with lots of energy, excellent time management skills and strong relationship skills to assume the role on or before the end of August 2015. This start date will allow for an orientation and “shadowing” period with the current Commissioner through to September 2015.
The ideal candidate will have:
· Demonstrated leadership, management, problem solving, delegation and decision making skills;
· Proven ability to inspire confidence, team effort and leadership in others
· Effective interpersonal and excellent communication skills;
· A strong Scouting background or equivalent volunteer experience;
· Registered or ability to become an active member of Scouts Canada.

Appointment - Yellow Briar Area Youth Commissioner
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Max Gunter as the Area Youth Commissioner for Yellow Briar Area, effective immediately.
Max is currently a 1st Bolton Venturer, where he has been the treasurer of the Company for the past year. Max has spent eight years in Scouting having started as a white tail Beaver, and along the way has taken on multiple volunteer roles in Scouting, including helping out at the annual Campcraft Cub Camp and showing initiative in working with the Area Youth Network to plan in the absence of an Area Youth Commissioner in the last two months. Additionally, he has taken on the role of co-course leader for the upcoming FLEX/FAST Training Course being hosted by Credit Hills and Yellow Briar in the fall. Outside of Scouting, Max is involved with multiple bands in high school as well as being a part of the Humberview Alpha Dogs Robotics Team.
I would also like to acknowledge Raymond Hanley for his time spent as Yellow Briar’s Area Youth Commissioner, and wish him luck in the future.

Scouts Games Presented by Toronto FC
Scouts Soccer Tournament
August 29, 2015 - 8:00AM-12:30PM @ Lamport Stadium
· Each team should have a minimum of 8 players.
· All ages and all sections may participate.
· Teams will be playing with other Scouts in their age range.
· Parents, Siblings, and Leaders/Scouters are welcome to come and watch the tournament. The games will be managed by Toronto FC Staff and referees.
· Players should wear comfortable clothes, sneakers, a hat and bring a water bottle(s). You may bring cleats and shin guards but they aren't manditory as these are just fun games.
